MEET PETAL

Petal

Is an almost 7 year old Welsh lady who is both dainty and determined.  Petal enjoys warm places and being carried around like a baby.  She loves squeaky toys and surveying her surroundings.  Put a leash on Petal and she turns into a sled dog raring for an Iditarod.  This gal loves to walk and lead the her human on great adventures.  Petal spent her life in West Virginia where she was well cared for but did not have a chance to be a typical house dog.  She is fully crate trained and knows commands to toilet.  Just like a puppy, she will need help learning the sights and sounds of home life.  Petal will also need a terrier savvy owner who can help her learn her commands as well as house training.  This girl is a diamond with a couple of rough (house training/commands) spots.  Petal will need to be an only dog.  If interested you must have an adoption application on file and be willing to travel to Northern Virginia to meet her and for pick up. For information contact Fernanda Fisher at fishwishmail@gmail.com or 202-669-7581.

Penny is looking for a special home

Penny is 5 years old and located in North Carolina. She would do well with a male dog but not with cats or young children. Penny has SLO (Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy) but is in remission. Her nail beds are pretty much destroyed. She doesn’t have any nails and they won’t grow back. Her paws do not bother her but her new family will need to watch for irritation. She will need to take fish oil and vitamin E. The good news is that her nails don’t have to be trimmed.

Penny also suffers from dental disease. She only has about half her teeth. WTCares has offered to cover future vet bills related to the SLO and dental issues. Penny can be protective and territorial of items she finds. She is however a sweet and happy girl with lots of energy. She likes sitting close to you preferably touching but is not a real cuddler. She can be a bit vocal and will keep your yard free of vermin. If you are interesting in adopting Penny, please contact Lyn Hollis at hollishaven@aol.com.

Penny is looking for a Welsh Terrier savvy home!

Penny is 5 years old. Penny has SLO (Symmetrical lupoid onychodystrophy which is a disease of the claws. She is currently in remission but it can flare up again in the future. The good news is that Penny will never have to have her nails trimmed. Her paws do not bother her. Penny loves daily walks and loves zooming through the yard. Penny also has dental issues and doesn’t have many teeth left. She had two more extracted recently. The dental issue is not related to the SLO. WTCARES will subsidize future vet bills relating to the SLO.

Penny does have resource guarding issues that will require continued work. She is smart as a whip and will blossom with the right person who can be patient and consistent. Penny needs a home with no children or cats. She could live with another dog (male only) depending on the dog. She currently gets along with a male Welsh Terrier who is very laid back. If you are interested in giving Penny a loving home, please fill out an application on our website http://www.welshterrierrescue.com.
